At OUSD, the focus is to move towards a personalized learning model, which is in line with my own philosophy of learning and the direction education needs to go. Below is a quick video with Chuck Schwann, one of the authors of the book "Inevitable: Mass Customized Learning in the Age of Empowerment." Take a minute to watch and think about our roles as teachers in education.

Tech Squads hold tremendous opportunities to assist with technology integration and building capacity in a school. When we include our students in the process, we also engage them. They become a part of the solution, while learning technology skills. Part of MCHS's vision is to empower their students to take leadership roles in their school and surrounding community.
The squad's role was pivotal in distribution, tech support, instructional training, digital citizenship campaigning, iOS upgrades, email implementation, student app training, collection, and summer storage. As their coach, I was very proud of how they stepped up to take on every task asked of them.

School Instructional Technology Plans
One of our biggest challenges this year (2015-2016), was to develop school-wide technology integration plans with each of our schools. While there were Summer institutes offered, availability was limited. None of my four schools were able to attend, so we had to develop our plans ourselves. Working with each school's instructional leadership team (ILT) was quite an eye opening experience. There is such a variance from school to school from administration through the entire staff as to what and how things get processed and completed. My levels of leadership had to vary from school to school to properly assist them in this arduous process. Visionary leadership needs to be flexible and accommodating, as well as organized and thoughtful.
